Xin nián kuài lè- Happy new year

Sunday 23 January at 5 o`clock we began the year of the Dragon according to Chinesse era. A new year celebration took place in Örnsköldsviks församlingshem.

Around 40 guests gathered when  Wenjun Ren, a Chinese woman  who has lived in Örnsköldsvik for a  few years, hosted the traditional Chinese New Year dinner - the first Chinese New Year celebrations in Örnsköldsvik.

Besides having the opportunity to learn to cook traditional Chinese dumplings, the guests were also invited to a delicious Chinesse buffet. Spicy seaweed, garlic topped clams, roast duck with honey sauce, Gongbao chicken and dumplings, were some of the dishes on  the menu.

In addition, Wenjun Ren put out a small market which, among other things sold Chinese goodies such as pickled chicken claws, small squid fish and sweets made of sticky rice with filling.

- I am happy that most of my friends came and brought with them several other friends. I feel like at home, says Wenjun Ren.This certainly won`t be the last Chinese New Year dinner in Örnsköldsvik.

- Hopefully, we can also celebrate other Chinese festivals.
